The light at the end of the tunnel...
Anton Krupicka is used to long roads. But the one which has presented itself to him in the last year is probably not one that he wishes to travel too often. This horror injury is the sort of thing that can sometimes end an athletic career…
However, this is a guy who regularly racks up 500 miles in some months, and whose meticulous schedule and training regimes have taken him to some amazing ultra trail wins over the last few years.
After a week which saw him train almost 20 hours and 39,500ft of vert gain, including some good solid running, there is a glimmer of hope that he is finally getting over the injury, and persistent shin pain which has dogged him over the last 6 months of rehab.

In his latest blog which saw a week of him actually enjoying some running again, he states:
Both runs it felt really, really good. Never noticed it. I had a blast on two exceptional mountain ascents in the San Gabes. They’re a really scenic, steep mountain range with totally legit climbs. This weekend was by far the most fun I’ve had running in over a year. Really a pleasure.
The sport of ultra trail needs Anton Krupicka – let’s hope that this is his year, and we see the great man back at the front and healthy!
