Kenya look to erase the 'nightmare'
National athletics coach Julius Kirwa
The 2008 world XC champs won’t be fondly remembered by the Keynans. With rivals Ethiopia taking all four titles, there was any element of soul searching like never before within the camp.
Enter Julius Kirwa, national coach at Athletics Kenya. His passion and desire to regain the mantle has seen many domestic runners step up this year, with the AK series being well supported and offering some new names to be considered for future glory.
After her run last weekend we think Linet Masai is possibly their best hope for gold, even though Kirwa singles out Florence Kiplagat in this article in Kenyan national newspaper Daily Nation. In the men’s race the in-form Mangata Ndiwa could well be their best hope, although Eliud Kipchoge might have something to say about that.
The 2009 event is building nicely…
Masai - best hope for gold?
