Snowdon 2012: First 200 entries go in 3 hours!
The advent of online entries for races these days means that places get snapped up for popular events faster than ever – it’s almost all about how good your technology is!
The 37th International Snowdon Race this week announced a major new headline sponsor in the form of Tyn Lon Volvo, and today at 9am online entries opened for runners who have previous experience of running the race in the last 5 years.

Amazingly the 200 places were snapped-up in under 3 hours, such is the demand for this race – which is considered amongst the best mountain events in the world.
Race organiser Stephen Edwards said:
“It’s amazing. To think only a few years ago we taking all entries by entry form, taking a lot longer to administer and allocate entries, now we’re merely pressing a button to go live and in minutes entries are flooding in!
“Of course the coming of new media and technology doesn’t mean that we have lost sight of the essence of the Snowdon Race. 2011 was an amaing event, and the race will still have that atmosphere that makes people come back year after year, and all of our plans for the 2012 event are signalling that it will be bigger and better than ever.

The race will be limited to 600 runners in 2012, with another 400 places going on sale on the 17th of March to all runners who may or may not have Snowdon Race experience. Edwards continues:
“Of course we stipulate that runners must have experience of running in the mountains, as the race should never be taken lightly. But following the re-opening of the entries in mid-March we expect to be full just a few days after that.”
