Literally. When I was contacted by the terrific organic health food company Meridian I merely thought it was a newsletter, as our family are big fans of their lovely range of products!

But no, good egg Matt Exley contacted MST to talk to me about their range of ‘nut based’ spreads and bars and how they could be a perfect nutritional aid to off road runners…

Matt states, “Many runners use peanut butter as a reliable snack food due to its nutrient density. But we have much more than peanuts to offer in our range and snack bars too. Perfect to fuel up before or after your next muddy adventure.”

With the protein content in these goodies too they are excellent for recovery after a long day on that hill or trail.

Meridian Foods was founded nearly thirty years ago, originally as a retailer, then a manufacturer, to provide wholesome tasty foods. This principle is as true today as it was when founder Andrew Jedwell produced the first jar of peanut butter. In addition to the products pictured below, Meridian also produce Natural Brazil Nut Butter and Natural Hazelnut Butter.

On top of the nut based stuff Meridian also produce a huge range of jams, wholefoods and sauces with gluten free, wheat free, diary free and meat free recipes. Check out the Meridian retailer search for your local outlet.

Suffice to say that since the delivery of these jars and bars on Wednesday I have set about making my way through them with a gusto, and with their ethical approach to business, their independence and approaches to the food that we eat, the Meridian brand should go from strength to strength.

Just having some of that almond spread as I write this. Lovely product.

About MST

Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
