Jones leads Inter Counties dash...
Andi Jones
You can bet that racing will be super-fast this Saturday at the British Inter Counties fell champs in Scotland. The Broughton Heights race, near Biggar, hosts the event – a 10k race with around 700 metres of vertical gain…
Top mountain man Andi Jones – a multiple GB representative at World and European mountain running championships in the past – goes, and will no doubt make sure that the pace is high.
The race forms part of the 2011 UKA McCain Mountain Running Challenge, incorporating this race along with the newly announced UK Mountain Running Champs in Keswick (12 June) and the World MR champs trial in August.
Robbie Simpson
Joining Jones will be GB reps from last year’s World champs James McMullen and Orlando Edwards. Add to these fast-men fell men Danny Hope, Ben Bardsley, Chris Steele, Tom Adams, Graham Pearce, Joe Symonds and the teenage sensation Robbie Simpson, and you see that we have a recipe for a great race.
The women’s event is no less flavoursome. Victoria Wilkinson is on board for Yorkshire, alongside 2010 British Fell Champ Pippa Maddams, and 2010 English Champ Lauren Jeska. Add in Olivia Walwyn, Anna Lupton, young Scot Catriona Buchanan and Lancashire speedster Tara Krzywicki, and once again there could be fireworks amongst the women as they tackle the same 10km course as the men.

Racing gets underway at at 1.00pm from Broughton Village Hall, and with the likes of Mark Johnston and Chris Upson there you can expect some great images and reporting early next week.
