Conditions in the morning were ideal for such an event; dry and not too hot with near perfect visibility, but with the forecast set to change later on the day, waterproofs were still very much part of the required compulsory kit. This brand new route started off road with a pleasant track through private grounds leading out on to the canal for the first 3 miles.
