Wee beasties swarm in Scotland
Midges and the Scottish Highlands and Islands, they go hand in hand. But by all accounts 2010 is a bad year for those hoping escape to the hills and enjoy some sport. This BBC report shows just how prevalent the wee beast is this year…
Some explanations lie in the cold winter, when you might expect them to be killed off. To the contrary the midges seem to have survived the big freeze, whereas their predators (bats, birds and other) seem have taken a hit!
For those of you who often head up that way you will no doubt know that there isn’t a huge amount that you can do except run faster (!), however any ‘midge repellent’ tips would be greatly received by the MST readers I am sure…
He's ready!
