UTLD is this weekend...
One of the toughest 100 miler races takes place across this weekend in the heart of the Lake District (UK), as seasoned fell and ultra runners get ready for the Montane sponsored Lakeland 100 and 50 mile events…
This really is a beast of an event, as you can testify through women’s 2010 winner Britta Sendlhofer’s excellent post-event report here. Starting in Coniston at 5.30pm on Friday The Lakeland 100 ‘Ultra Tour of the Lake District’ is:
the most spectacular long distance trail race which has ever taken place within the UK. The circular route encompasses the whole of the lakeland fells, includes in the region of 6300m of ascent and consists entirely of public bridleways and footpaths.
The 50 then gets underway at 12 noon Saturday (28 July)
