One of Austria’s most famous races takes place this weekend, as over 1000 people take to the mountains for the Grossglockner Berglauf. Running past the highest mountain in Austria, Grossglockner provides a unique challenge over 12.7km with 1494m of climb…

This year following on from the success of 2011, the Salomon International team will be present again, through athletes Kasie Enman, Antonella Confortola and Jonathan Wyatt.

Kasie is the current World Mountain Running title holder and likes the fast technical running that this course provides. Antonella is the defending champion from last year and recently placed 7th in the European Mountain Running Championships held last week in Turkey.

Jono Wyatt - looking to improve on 5th in 2011

Jonathan Wyatt, the six time World Mountain Champion will be back again and hoping to improve on his 5th place in 2011. He has won this race 5 times and likes the steep punchy climbs followed by fast flat sections.

1000 people will be taking on the challenge once again to reach the finish line at 2370m. The programme kicks off on Saturday 14 July with the ‘Gsund Lauf’ (peoples run) and Kids run. The Grossglockner race starts on 10am Sunday 15 July.
