Robbie Simpson

It’s been a busy start to 2012 on the race front, with a few going under the MST radar. So, here lies a little round-up from the new year’s day Hardmoors 30, to Robbie Simpson’s record run at last weekend’s El-Brim-Ick Dash near Aberdeen…

Robbie Simpson breaks the record in a time of 19:30. Robbie takes the record from Dan Whitehead which stood since 2000 in a time of 19:46.

(Ed – winning by almost 2 mins!!) Results here

There is also a great blog by Henry Morris on the Hardmoors here

The Hardmoors 30 follows a roughly figure of 8 route over 30 miles on the North Yorkshire Coast. It starts in the hamlet of Ravenscar, follows the Cleveland Way to Hayburn Wyke then loops back on itself up to Whitby via an abandoned rail track before travelling back to Ravenscar, this time via the Cleveland Way.

The new year Aonach Mor race was won by Dave Rodgers, report on SHR

A large field of around 130 took part and the race was dominated from the start by Dave Rodgers (Lochaber) who led all the way. In second place and closing in on Dave towards the end was Andy Fallas (Carnethy). Colin Donnelly (Lochaber) had another age defying run to finish 4th and first Over 50.

The legend that is Colin Donnelly

Oh and in case anyone had designs on running the Carnethy 5 on the 12th of Feb, you’d better broaden your racing horizons for that day – as it was sold out online in less than 45 mins after opening at 5pm yesterday (Jan 9)!

About MST

Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
