Naylor's Run

Here is something to take you away from the Monday grind. We stumbled on this short film on fell running legend and Wasdale shepherd Joss Naylor, which perfectly captures one of world’s purest sports…

Filmed around Joss’ 60 at 60 run, as the Wasdale man attempted 60 peaks on his 60th birthday, in just 36 hours – from Walna Scar to Glenridding, a distance of 105 miles with over 40,000feet of ascent! The film also records Joss’ thoughts on his injuries, running longevity and his feelings for this magical area of the British Isles.

It’s a short clip from a DVD that is still available at Amazon.co.uk

Hi Bill, apologies he is a shepherd, I’ll correct that.

I think it says on the film that he is a Borrowdale man, and has his home / farm in Wasdale?

Born and bred at Middle Row farm Wasdale in 1936, his parents moved there from Caldbeck 10 years earlier

What a great 60th birthday celebration! I salute Mr. Naylor! Way to go!

“You’ve got to watch these stones, like when you’re building a wall”.

Aye, right. And how do you build a dry stone wall, Joss?

A great feat, made to look easy until compared to the speed of those pacers keeping up behind.
