This time two years ago Robbie Simpson was making his way in the senior hill and fell running ranks. Two years on and he is firmly established as one of the best exponents on the hills throughout the UK…

Robbie Simpson at Bishop Hill

He showed this class on Sunday by defeating Al Anthony (no slouch on the hills!) by a sound 50 second margin as he won the Bishop Hill race in a new record time. The performance was even more impressive when you realise that the record Robbie took was held by Jethro Lennox from 2008.

Fellow ‘Deesider’ Claire Whitehead had an equally super run in this tough early-season 4km race in Fife, as she updated her own record from 2009 by over 40 seconds.
