Jebb looks for no.5 at 3 Peaks
This weekend sees the 56th edition of one of the most iconic fell race or mountain races in the world. The 3 Peaks race is one of those races that is on a fell runner’s ‘must do’ list, and represents a true fell running classic…
The race has got its fair-share of legends amongst its role call of winners – Jeff Norman, Ian Holmes, Hugh Symonds, Gavin Bland, Kenny Stuart, Andy Peace, Rob Jebb, Angela Mudge, Carol Greenwood, list goes on and on. However, all is history as the 1000 (entrants) take to the start line at Horton-in-Ribblesdale this Saturday at 10 o’clock sharp.

Last years winner Rob Jebb aims to put himself even further up the Three Peaks hall-of-fame rankings as he goes for his fifth win. Only Mike Davies and Jeff Norman have won more than 3 Three Peaks races. Whether Jebby will ever get anywhere near Jeff’s six-wins remains to be seen, though one of our insiders tells us that the great man has been targeting the race in 2010 and will be very hard to dislodge from his fast-becoming ‘unbeatable at 3 Peaks’ status!
The new legend, Jebby
Pushing him close will be 2009 runner-up Ricky Lightfoot, and form-man Morgan Donnelly, with Lightfoot stating that the 3 Peaks is “one of my main goals for 2010”.
The women’s race looks like a wide-open affair, with 2009 winner Anna Lupton back for more, Vicky Wilkinson will also be a big contender and this year sees the welcome return of Natalie White, whos 2010 early season prep has been carried out with the 3 Peaks firmly centred in her target list for this year. The Three Peaks has become known for its monumental battles over the years and this year’s women’s race could prove to be so.
