Big 3 Dq'd @ UKA fell relays
2008 winners and runners-up, Bingley and Mercia, and Pudsey and Bramley were all disqualified from the UKA British Fell relay champs, held in a misty and damp Ennerdale Hills on Sunday. Although the detail is currently a little vague, it appears all three missed CP1 on the fourth leg…
According to the FRA forum the three runners involved were new World triathlon champ Ali Brownlee, three-time winner of the international Snowdon race Tim Davies and 2009 British Champ Rob Hope – all top international mountain runners, so it happens to the best of em!
Borrowdale seem to have taken advantage of all of the shenanigans to win. In the women’s race Dark Peak were victorious from last year’s winning team Calder Valley. It appears that the Relays are gaining in popularity and prestige too as almost 140 teams started the event.
Still, all of the above is provisional (but thanks must go to the fell running social media giant that is the FRA forum for instant chat and images!!) with full results and reports to come.
