Lakeland events company High Terrain Events have announced that their Ennerdale Trail races on October 21st will also now host a 50k ultra-trail event too, with race organiser Ian Mulvey stating “it’s simply a perfect environment for ultra running”.

Although no major climbs are encountered, there is a total ascent of 920’ per circuit which is sure to test resolve.

Ian continues:

“Ennerdale is a wild and remote valley, with a fantastic network of trails enclosed by a magnificant backdrop of classic lakeland fells -a great combination of lakeshore and forest trails.

“From the initial stages along Ennerdale lakeshore runners can see right down the whole valley (if it’s clear!). The section through the forest offers stunning views across to the dramatic cliffs and rock buttresses of Pillar Rock. Then runners emerge from the forest at the head of the valley to an amazing ampitheatre/backdrop of fells.

“The course turnaround is just past the iconic Black Sail YHA, which feels more of an Alpine setting. Then it’s looking back down the whole length of the valley again and realise just how far it is!

“All the routes are contained within the valley, so it’s ideal if you are looking to take part in your first ultra event.”
