Ben Cruachan welcomes the LAMM
One of the UK’s best mountain marathons takes place in Scotland this weekend, as runners head to Ben Cruachan for a ‘South Year’. The Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon is ready for action at a location ’2 hrs north of Glasgow…’
After their great win in 2011, Duncan Archer and Jim Mann are back to defend their title. Looking to get in their way will be Al Anthony and Dan Gay amongst others, as the 2-day event gets underway at 7am tomorrow (9 June).
In an event where the organiser is Martin Stone and the course planner is Angela Mudge, you know that this event is going to be up there with the best. Throw in the famous Wilfs Cafe and say no more…
Race controller Andy Spenceley says:
Hopefully, despite the mostly cold weather so far this year, you’ll have managed to get up some hills and get your hill legs working. We may be a bit further south than last year, but we’re still in an area with some very high hills and there are at least double the number of Munros on the map compared with last year.
…so come what may, the LAMM will – as ever – be a toughie!
