Micah True, forever the Caballo Blanco

Author of Born to Run Christopher McDougall dedicates this superbly emotional article to the search and rescue mission for the late Micah True aka Caballo Blanco some 6 weeks ago in Gila National Forest, New Mexico.

Writing for Outside online, McDougall portrays a scene of firstly intense searching and optimism, to one of diminishing hope as the days passed, and finally one of resignation that they would not find the great man alive.

McDougall, who wrote effusively about True and his inspirational life as a champion of the Tarahumara in Mexico, was now writing about him once again only this time the circumstances were tragic.

Moving stuff…
