Sandes wins HK100

Ryan Sandes - HK100 winner 2012

Ryan Sandes has won the Vibram Hong Kong 100km ultra trail race in a record time of 9hrs55min – almost two hours quicker than the previous record of 11:48. Having led from check point 7 he carved out a 10 min lead over his nearest competitor.

Having run a conservative first half of the race Sandes gradually made his trade-mark second half gallop and caught the long-time Nepalese leader Kulung by Check Point 8. He then ran on to win comfortably, after having a 17 minute lead at one point.
