Jethro Lennox at Yetholm

There was a big turnout at Sunday’s Yetholm Hill Race with Scottish internationals Jethro Lennox and Catriona Buchanan taking the respective men’s and women’s race records…

After a good early season, Shettleston man Lennox was quickly to the fore in this 12.8km race – which takes in White Law hill top and the surrounding Halterburn countryside – with Ochil’s Al Anthony in close attendance. As they approached the finish the race was still anyones, with Lennox prevailing in 63.04, just 10 seconds up on Anthony – both were inside Brian Marshall’s 2005 record of 63.56. Carnethy’s Andrew Fallas was third in an impressive 64.05.

Buchanan is also starting to show the type of form which won her the Snowdon International race in 2010, and was a convincing winner of the women’s event, ahead of Sarah McCormack. The Ochil Hill Runners time of 75.26 was over a minute inside Jill Mykura’s 2008 record of 77.05.

Full results are here, with some great images here courtesy of Bill Fairmaner.
