Inov 8's new bare-grip™ gets a proper workout!
I recently posted a review of Inov-8’s new Bare-Grip 200™. I had just received the shoes from Inov-8 and only wore them for three runs between 1-2 hours …. The question most people would ask is “can you really review a shoe after only a couple of runs”?
Well further down the line and Terry has now given them a real testing, a 27 hours and 10 mins test. That’s a long test. Terry Conway tells us all about his experience with the new Inov8 shoe, and his Lakeland 100 story too, where he placed an excellent 5th overall.

Great review. The barefoot debate is certainly hotting up and although Born to Run, a really great book, seems to have fuelled this there is only one person in the story, bare foot Ted, who actually runs barefoot. Shoes are supposed to protect the feet and not be medical devices, Inov-8 look to be on the right track.

Good to hear a review on minimal footwear from an ultra runner. I hope it hits home to other runners out there. As Paul said, footwear should be design to protect the foot against extreme temperatures and rough terrain. They should not affect the natural mechanics of the body. Inov-8 are on the right track with a range of footwear that provides meaningful protection while allowing the foot and lower limb to move in the way it was designed to!
