Inov 8's new bare-grip™ 200 wins OutDoor Industry Award
inov-8’s™ impressive track record at the annual OutDoor Show Awards continues with a Gold Industry Award for new bare-grip™ 200. This is the first Gold Award for inov-8™ but their third OutDoor Show award in four years
(with the OROC™ orienteering shoe (2009) and H2Orizontal™ 2L Hydration System (2007) winning previously.)
The Gold Award is only presented to the most innovative new products launched at the show and the judges were clearly impressed with the radical approach the baregrip ™ 200 takes to the unique challenges of off road running.
The inov8 press-release states:
“The bare-grip™ 200 is an extraordinary off road running shoe. The midsole has been removed so that the user experiences the freedom and sensation of barefoot running but has superb grip and underfoot protection. Because the bare-grip™ 200 does not have a midsole, all the natural power and speed of the foot is transferred directly through the shoe.
Also, because the foot is closer to the ground in a stable, low profile and natural position there is less chance of injury and the runner can sense and feel the ground under his feet. As there is no interference from the midsole or other superfluous technologies the user can experience pure running”.

Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
