Drakensberg Skyrun, 2009
The long-haired giant stands in the wind on a rock. He is overlooking an endless green mountain range, which is clearly visible to the horizon. At his feet, a cliff drops almost one kilometer straight down into a rocky canyon. The sun is firing its rays at the giant as if it wanted to burn him to ashes.
This isn’t an extract from a novel, no this is reality. The Drakensberg Skyrun is a beast. 100km of racing, going to 3000m in altitude across baron South African terrain that scoots canyons and entails treacherous border crossings.
