Rob in his Pudsey and Bramley vest

With his British champion crown to defend Rob Hope started 2009 where he left off in 2008 with a great win at the opening round of the British Fell Running championships in the Mourne Mountains, Northern Ireland on Saturday (4th).

Chased home by brother Danny, Rob claimed his second Slieve Bearnagh win and broke his record from 2006 by a over 40 seconds. With over 220 finishers completing the tough 4 miles route – and the field now loaded with internationals – it’s clear why this race is considered a premier fell event in the Northern Irish fell scene.

The race is also listed as Rob’s favourite on his Saab Salomon biog page – where you will also see some of the Saab Salomon athletes highlights over the last few years – and will no doubt remain so after this latest edition.

Full results now online, we will also aim to bring you a full report in the coming days…
