There isn’t a lot that hasn’t been said about one of the UK’s great fell runners, Rob Jebb. He’s a 7 time winner of the classic Three Peaks cyclo-cross race, so he could be mentioned in the same ‘great’ vein by the cycling fraternity.

What’s more he is about to become a dad, so when I asked Rob for an interview it probably wasn’t the best timing. How wrong I was, because in between his full time job with BT, training with the new Saab Salomon Outdoor Team, fitting in a bit of cyclo cross racing, to become Northern Champ for 2009, oh and preparing to become a father in the very near future, he found time to answer some quick-fire questions in the MST 5 minutes with… series.

In his favourite position...

So how did you get into running Rob?

My dad was a runner so from the age of 9 joined Bingley Harriers.

What achievements are you most proud of?
Career highlights are winning the British Championship twice (2003 & 2007) English Championship twice (2006 & 2008) and being crowned World Skyrunning Champion in 2005, which was very special.

What were your 2008 highlights?

What are your personal goals for 2009?
Compete to the best of my ability in the British & English Championships
To do well in the Skyraces & Skygames. Most of all, enjoy it !

What gets you excited outside of running?
During the winter months I compete in cyclocross which keeps me motivated outside of the fell running season.

You have got a few weeks before you become a dad, what are you going to cram in before the momentous day?
Sleep!! I hope that I will continue to race and share the experiences with baby Jebb

Rob Jebb

As part of our exclusive coverage of the Saab Salomon Outdoor Team this year we are pretty sure that he will feature heavily in the results once again, but for the biggest challenge so far (Jebb junior!) MST wish you the very best of luck Rob….

About MST

Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
