This weekend...
Summer is most definitely here. A bumper weekend of fell racing with that classic of classics on Jura, along with the Welsh beast that is Cader Idris. The English fells see racing on Hutton Roof Crags and Saddleworth amongst others, and it’s gonna be hot…
The western Scottish Isles will be looking their glorious best for Saturday’s Isle of Jura Fell Race. Tackling the Paps and amongst the men’s favourites will be Rob Jebb, running his 7th race, 3 Peaks third placer Rob Baker, Borrowdale’s Ben Bardsley, 2011 winner Es Tressider and Carnethy’s Andy Fallas. In the ladies race stand out is Angela Mudge, also running her 7th Jura race, which she ranks amongst her favourite races in the world.
Make sure that you check out the excellent Jura race history film too, with the full Jura entry list here.
Jura reward!
At Cader Idris, expect a big field, especially from the Welsh contingent. With the race acting as one of the selection races for Snowdon in 2012 local Ifan Richards will be looking to improve on his 6th of 2011. Aber boys Andres and Filipe Jones will be on the start line too, after weeks of recces on the big Welsh mountain.
There is no start list as we can see, so we are not sure if the likes of Lloyd Taggart will turn up on the day once again (after being very close to Colin Donnelly’s record in 2011), but you can bet the competition will be hot in all respects. Entries on the day too…
Last year at Hutton Roof saw a quality field, with Morgan winning from Jebby, and looking at the calendar there is just the Kentmere Trail Race in the Lakes, so expect Cumbria’s finest plus others to be there.

Full info all of the racing online from respective Welsh, English and Scottish associations here WFRA, FRA and the SHR sites.
As you will probably know, the weather forecast is for blue skies and temps in the high twenties in some places, so pack that sun hat, sun cream and the speedos, and enjoy the sun!
