Ben Abdelnoor

Stuart Mills, Lizzie Wraith, Ben Abdelnoor and Katherine Brougham became the latest people to add their names to the Lakeland 100 / 50 role call, as another super successful UTLD passed through some the UK’s most beautiful and challenging terrain this weekend…

The event seemingly goes from strength to strength and the stories and comments coming back on their Facebook page are just testament to that, as are some of the great images along the route showing great support and camaraderie.

Stuart Mills and Lizzie Wraith dominated the men’s and women’s 100 from the start, with Mills a figure of control as he maintained a steady lead throughout the night and into the morning as he raced back to Coniston to win by 45mins from 9bar runner Charlie Sharpe.

Wraith was equally majestic in taking the women’s event, winning in 24:15 almost 2 hours up on Debbie Martin-Consani in second.

Top Lakeland fell runner Ben Abdelnoor showed that he is a class act too (and possibly hinted that he may have a future in some more ultra races?) by taking the 50 mile race and breaking the course into the bargain. His time time of 7:39 was over 40 minutes up on second-placed runner Richard Ashton.

Full results via Sport Ident here, and just a small selection of the great images out there via Paul Dobson.
