This weekend...
It’s a little quieter than normal this weekend, but still plenty for fell runners to get their teeth into across the country. Away from the big International tomorrow, another big hill faces racers in Cumbria, as they tackle England’s highest peak Scafell Pike...
One of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks is on offer tomorrow too, as the Whernside race goes off a 11am for 12 miles and almost 3000ft of ascent, with entries on the day.
A big old classic takes place in Scotland as hill runners get ready for the Two Breweries race – with John Taylor’s tremendous course record now 20 years old. Angela Mudge’s amazing time of 2:53:56 is knocking on for 12 years old now as well, and it will take a mighty run from any female who plans on getting close to the mark.
Runners at the Two Breweries race
Big names taking to the start line who will figure include Jasmin Paris and Sarah O’Neil on the ladies side and Ben Nevis winner Finlay Wild in the men’s race. Racing gets underway at 12 noon, but unfortunately there are no entries on the day.
Others races are the King John’s Castle Race in Wales, the Bovey Beauty and Wild Goose Chase in the South West, Cairn William in Inverurie and the Viking Chase 4 Peaks in Cleveland. Full info on these and all of the racing online from respective Welsh, English and Scottish associations here WFRA, FRA and the SHR sites.
Weather looks cracking on Saturday, but a different story on Sunday. So check your local forecast, pack the appropriate kit and enjoy!
