A fresh looking Lauren Jeska and Joe Symonds

The final standings of the 2012 British Fell Running Championships have been published, confirming our thoughts after the Moel Wnion race. Joe Symonds and Lauren Jeska pick up their first crowns, with Borrowdale and Dark Peak taking the men’s and ladies’ team titles…

In the men’s category Symonds had the title sewn-up well before the last race, with wins at Coledale and Slieve Bearnagh, and a second place at Arrochar. Rob Jebb held onto the silver despite also missing the last round. Ben Bardsley and final round winner Morgan Donnelly shared the bronze, with the same points and one victory each.

Jeska on the other hand need to at least take part in the last round to be eligible for the Championship, and needed to finish at least 4th to win the title. It was probably never in doubt though as she convincingly won the last race in Wales, to add to her victory at Coledale and third place at the Arrochar Alps race.

Helen Fines took the silver after another strong season for the Calder Valley runner, with Mercia’s Anna Bartlett taking the bronze.
