EMRC is this weekend...
Arslan Ahmet - going for no6 at EMRC
The heat of Turkey awaits Europe’s elite mountain runners as Denizli hosts the 11th European Mountain Running Championships on Saturday. 5-time Euro champ Ahmet Arslan will be in the men’s hot seat as he looks to make it six on home soil…
However, after having it pretty much his own way in the last few years, the challenge to the Turk’s supremacy will be very much real this year as Italy’s Marco De Gasperi steps foot on the start line of the men’s 12.2k race which takes in around 715m of climb during it’s three laps.
The women cover the same 4km in their 2-lap 8.3km route. Though Pavia Schorna and Elena Rukhlyada are expected to start as pre-race favourites, we are pretty sure that Italy’s Antonella Confortola and Brits Mary Wilkinson and Emma Clayton might have something to say about that.

The GB and NI team will look to medal in both individual and team events in all championships races (junior men / women, senior men/ women), with the women’s squad looking at strong as ever, spearheaded by Wilkinson and Clayton.
