XC is back...
Yes, now that the Indian summer that never was has been and gone (all 5 days of it) the XC lovers in the UK are getting set for another winter of fun. Those who love cross-country can get excited that as the nights draw in the mud will start to churn around the country in leagues, series and championship races…
Wollaton - once of the most scenic starts in XC
It’s that time when the spikes (studs) come out and the ez ups get dusted off, gangs of club runners get ready to huddle in cold, windswept fields and league officials get those trusty clipboards and waterproofs out to record every last inter-club sprint finish.
Last weekend saw leagues kicking-off at Derby, West Glamorgan and North Wales, with other classics such as the Chiltern League, Hampshire and Surrey getting underway next weekend.
So, if you’re a fell, trail or road runner and you want to improve your speed and endurance, meet new people and get involved in one of the oldest and most enjoyable of off-road running disciplines, head down to your local club and get involved!
