Ahmet Arslan

The 32nd Smarna Gora race saw crisp blue skies and ferocious racing on the slopes of this classic Slovenian mount on Sunday. Ahmet Arslan repeated his win of 2010 in the race, and the overall WMRA Grand Prix Series

Arslan and Krkoč - GP Winners 2011

Slovenia’s Lucija Krkoc confirmed herself as the stand-out athlete in this year’s women’s series by winning the race from Antonella Confortola-Wyatt, and the overall Series title.

It was a good day from a British point of view too, as young mountain star Emma Clayton secured 3rd overall in the season-long series, after finishing 7th on the day, just ahead of Lauren Jeska, with Ali Lavender in 10th.

In the men’s race Orlando Edwards finished a strong 9th, with Tom Addison 11th, Joe Morwood 13th, Josh Tighe 14th, Mark Addison in 15th and Adam Osborne in 16th place.

A great report is now online at the IAAF site, with more images to follow.
