Whilst the world’s track and field media have all eyes on Daegu for the World Championships, it’s refreshing to see UK weekly mag Athletics Weekly doing a nice 4-pager on ultra trail running…
Writing by AW ed Jason Henderson, the article is penned ‘Ultra cool trails and tribulations’ looks at some of the world’s biggest ultra races (UTMB, Leadville 100, Western States 100) and the relatively recent explosion in this sector. Jason argues that an ultra is now supplanting mere marathons and the ironman as the next big challenge on the lists of endurance runners – and he is probably right.
Top men (Anton Krupicka, Dean Karnazes) and women (Lizzy Hawker) get some coverage and the fact that the UK now has some of the best ultra distance runners in the world.
