Jebby takes the big one
Rob Jebb
In England this weekend that is. Round 3 of the English Fell Running Champs took place at the Ennerdale Horseshoe. This was one of the two long ones in the 6-race championships, all 23 miles of it…
As usual there are some great tales from Saturday’s race and it sounded like another warm day out on the Cumbrian fells. None the less the racing was fierce as ever and it saw Rob Jebb bounce back from his disappointment of Coniston, where he finished an uncharacteristic 5th.
The race was also another tale of a runner storming through in the latter stages (Holmsey did it at Coniston), as this time it was Dark Peak’s Lloyd Taggart who came through from around 6th at Green Gable to claim second place – less than two minutes behind Jebb at the finish. Ian Holmes won out for third ahead of Ben Bardsley, after a race long battle.
The results turn the championship standings upside down once again, as this year’s English championships are proving to be one of the most exciting for a few years.
Jackie Lee
In the ladies event there was far less drama as Eryri’s Jackie Lee took a crushing 10 minute win from Jane Reedy. Helen Fines took a strong third place.
