Birkinshaw (left) and Lennox - 2009 OMM winners

The new wave of media and technology sees the OMM at the forefront in coupling this with the wilderness and personal challenge of the event. This year a series of podcasts have been put together relaying the finishers as they arrive…

With interviews and observations this is an excellent addition to what is still the original and best. MM experts Steve Birkinshaw and Jethor Lennox took the win in the elite class, by a slender 4 minutes, after nearly 11 hours of racing in the hills and vales of Builth and Llandrindod Wells.

It appears that overnight second-placers Al Powell and Jon Morgan had an 8-minute lead, however Inov8 athletes lennox and Bikinshaw passed the leaders and pulled away throughput the day. Sleepmonsters report:

The winners had made up their 8 minute deficit and opened a winning lead. “We thought it might take 3 hours or so to catch them,” said Lennox, “but we caught them near CP2 and then ran together for a long time, through to CP5. Then Steve saw Al stop to tie his lace and he was off! We really went for it then and were strong enough to pull away.”
