Owens takes Glenshee 9 record - as predicted!
Tom Owens at Glenshee 9
Yep, Scottish Hill Racing man Chris Upson told me last week that Tom Owens was on for this one, and so it proved on Sunday as the Shettleston Harrier ran a great race over the challenging 36km event to take his pal Andy Symonds’ record of 2008 by an impressive 6 minutes…
Based in the Grampians, and in only its second year, the Glenshee 9 hill race already seems to be a hit with Scotland’s hill runners -with an impressive 61 finishers at yesterday’s event.
Carn Aosda and the Cairnwell from the west
It seems Owens even climbed an extra hill too on his way to a 5 minute win over Alec Keith, who was incidentally also inside Symond’s record – work on that navigation Tom! Gill Irvine was first lady and outside of Claire Gordon’s 2008 time, prevailing in 4:32:58, winning by over 7 minutes from Ellen Homewood and Louise Burt in third.
