XC's loss is Tri's gain, again!
Pastures new for Bowden
Top UK steeplechaser and international cross country runner Adam Bowden has decided to hang up his spikes and head for the high-tech world of triathlon. Speaking in the February edition of 220 magazine he spills the beans, and tells us why he has turned his back on the sport.
Bowden follows the footsteps of another former top cross country (and Harrow AC) runner, Andrea Whitcombe, who decided that enough was enough and took up the 3-sport discipline almost 10 years ago.
Whitcombe has been a huge success in triathlon
Seemingly still in the ascendancy on the rough stuff (with 17th straight cross country wins this winter alone) Bowden was left stunned after his non selection for last year’s Olympic team – even after winning the Steeplechase at the Olympic trials.
With his top class running abilities and a 58 second 100m freestyle PB he just needs to master the bike. If you follow triathlon keep an eye out and don’t be surprised if he makes 2012 after all…
