Masai supreme
Masai, majestic
Yet another African star came of age today at the women’s Great North Winter Run international cross country in Edinburgh. Linet Masai majestically negotiated the Scottish terrain and the classy international field to romp home a convincing winner. The 19 year old never looked in trouble as she waited until the second big lap to make her move for a very comfy win.
Women’s International Race Highlights
Although it looked tricky in places the 5.6km course proved no problem for the Kenyan 2007 World cross junior champion, and bodes well for her attempt on the senior crown in Amman later this winter.
UK hope Steph Twell once again demonstrated that she is fast becoming the best the Europe has to offer, at any level, with a strong run in 4th.
Twell - safe hands...

Men’s 4km race Highlights
Earlier Andy Baddeley returned an equally convincing win against a top quality domestic field in the men’s 4km race. Fresh after little racing, due to an achilles injury, the Harrow athlete struck for home with around 1km to go and although it looked like Stockport’s Steve Vernon would catch the Olympic 1500m man he kicked again, using his formidable track speed to win by a comfortable margin at the finish. Fellow Olympic 1500 representative Tom Lancashire finished strongly ahead of the other Vernon, Andy, in third place.
Baddeley - convincing winner
