Marco de Gasperi going for number 3 at Sierre-Zinal

The Sierre Zinal race this weekend is one of the world’s top mountain races. With such British winners in it’s 39 year history as Jeff Norman, Angela Mudge, Jack Maitland and Veronique Marot, this one means a lot to the UK elite…

So, no surprise to see the likes of Tom Owens, Robbie Simpson, Tessa Hill, Joe Symonds, Lauren Jeska and Nick Swinburn taking on 2011 winner Marco de Gasperi and the might of European and world mountain and Skyrunning then.

billy burns is fastest brit ever at sierre zinal( 2hr 34 mins),the last brit to win it , 5 podium places in 12 runs , and one of two athletes ever to beat the record holder jonathon wyatt at sierre zinal . And hes not even mentioned ! Then at fast approaching 50 beat rest of the top brits . He doesnt make excuses , even though he could at his age !

    Thanks Stuart

I was passed info regarding the pre-entries and along with Murray Strain I didnt realise Billy was running. I am also in awe of him and his performances at this race. He is in the race report and I am hoping to do a feature on him and his upcoming participation in the Trans Alpine Run with Morgan Donnelly – a force to be reckoned with no doubt.
