Gemma Steel - 2012 National XC champion

One of these winners was highly fancied, pre-race, the other wasn’t mentioned in too many previews, including ours. The National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill this afternoon saw Gemma Steel take her first national crown…

Keith Gerrard sprung a surprise as he won the men’s title ahead of pre-race favourite Steve Vernon, John Beattie was third with Frank Tickner in fourth.

Behind Steel saw a return to the front for Steph Twell, with Sonia Samuels taking the bronze.

Full report, results and images to follow….
