Tom Owens and Jethro Lennox at the 2011 race

After their win in 2011 top Scots club Shettleston once again showed their strength as they comfortably won the Devils Burdens race in Fife yesterday. HBT ladies also triumphed in this excellent early-season relay event…

A relay race over 31 km consisting of 4 legs for teams of 6 (2 legs run in pairs) was the order of the day, and with the east Glasgow club sticking Tom Owens and Jethro Lennox on leg three the outcome of the men’s event was pretty much decided on that crucial third stage.

They were chased home by Carnethy who ran strongly, but it wasn’t enough as Paul Sorrie brought Shettelston home almost 5 minutes clear in 2.24.58, a couple of minutes down on their 2011 time.

In the women’s event Hunters Bog Trotters (2.52.45) won a good battle with Carnethy (2.55.46) to also repeat their success of last year. Full results can be found here with images to follow…
