Brownlee boys dominate Auld Lang Syne
Brotherly love was nowhere to be seen today at this classic Woodentops race, as a big battle between Ali and Jonny Brownlee produced a narrow win for Ali. Both were almost two minutes clear of Borrowdale man Chris Steele in third.
Their dominance over some top class fell runners underlines just how talented these boys are and show that should they have not decided to dominate the world of triathlon, they could probably dominate at least the shorter distance UK mountain and fell running scene.
It was a good day for Yorkshire in the women’s race too as young Holmfirth runner Katie Walshaw emphatically won ahead of Jo Buckley and Kate Bailey. Testimony to this event is the fact that in soggy and dismal conditions there were 388 finishers.
