Deep breath and... the Caerketton Doonhiller

Downhill racing. Big in mountain biking, not so big in mountain running. Though from a ‘buzz’ point of view, is probably unmatched in running. There are a few races on the British calendar, and last night descender supreme was Ochil man Al Anthony as he flew down Caerketton in record time…

Eilidh Wardlaw also smashed the women’s record, as she won the race for a 4th time. Full report, results and excellent images now online at the SHR site…

It was a night for records at this year’s Caerketton Doonhiller. Al Anthony (Ochils) pushed the course record that bit closer to a sub-5 by knocking 7 seconds off Ian Wellock’s course record, clocking 5mins 4secs for the 1.8km course with 300m descent.

Whoosh! Sounds awesome! Any videos of it? There is ‘Downhill Donnard’ in the north of Ireland and I think IMRA may be planning a downhill of their own possibly next year.

    Cheers,
    Jason
