Trail Running: Issue 2

After the success of issue one, issue two of Trail Running has hit the print mag shelves – once again bagged with the October edition of Trail magazine. This time round they take a look at night-running (something we’d urge everyone to try!), a shed-load of trail shoes (18) and nutrition.

Top mountain runner Mary Wilkinson makes the front cover this month, addressing the gender balance nicely, and the 148 pages also cover some interesting subjects such as running medics on Dartmoor, that hot potato Barefoot running, how to travel light if you are on a long-run and some great light-weight / windproof jacket reviewing.

The question we at MST would now be asking is, does the mag now ‘go it alone’ on the magazine stands, and become a stand-alone publication that needs no leg-ups. Our feeling would be yes, however it may be difficult for Bauer Media (publisher) to assess given that the initial sale would be via Trail mag.

We suspect that their internal circulation boffins will be working that one out over the coming few weeks and looking at spikes in purchases, if that is indeed the case. Whatever, the first two mags have been a breath of fresh air, and hopefully have proved to fill a gap in the print-market that obviously exists.

Trail Running should be available (bagged with October’s Trail magazine) at your local newsagents now…

Can someone send them a copy of the German “Trail Magazin”? Top notch photography and less provincial.
If the FRA and WFRA are less precious about their race listings it may become a must-have magazine for all mountain and trail running.
