It's a top Shelf for Hope...

Rob Hope leads Simon Bailey

After a mammoth battle over the closing miles Rob Hope today prevailed over Lloyd Taggart at the 2010 English champs decider Shelf Moor, and in doing so secured the crown. Lauren Jeska took the women’s race and if my calculations are right (?) wins the women’s title by one point from Olivia Walwyn!

Lauren Jeska

History will state that the race was extremely close in both races, with Hope beating Taggart by 4 seconds and Jeska clear of second placed woman Helen Fines by just 3 seconds!

With some really clear conditions for the event racing was intense, especially so in the men’s race with Taggart and Hope battling with Mercia’s 2009 English fell champion Simon Bailey, who eventually finished 3rd just 16 seconds back on Hope. Rob Jebb was a distant 4th. With championship leader Olivia Walwyn out in Slovenia on GB duty at the World Moutain Running champs the way was clear for Jeska in the women’s event, and she took full advantage.

Great to see so many shots from the race already up online, with perhaps the pick of the bunch from Dan Sims, his really super images can be found here. More pics great here and here the usual lively post-race chat on the FRA forum.
