Trans Alp Day 1: A familiar story...
Trans Alp 2010 is underway!
After stage 1 and 36 of the 305kms of the 2010 Trans Alpine Run, it is a familiar looking leader board with the 2009 winners Andy Symonds and Tom Owens already holding a commanding lead…
The British pairing won the opening leg of this 8-day and 8-stage race by a comfortable 8 minutes, as the racing got underway at bang on 11am CET from Ruhpolding in Germany.
Stage one in the bag for Andy and Tom
In the mixed category 2009 winner Angela Mudge picked up where she left off too, with new partner Chunky Liston, winning the leg by almost 10 minutes from South African pairing Julie Dike and Ryan Sandes.
Today’s results can be found here, with some excellent race images online at the Salomon Running Facebook page.
Stage 2 is an altogether different proposition as the runners head out from St.Ulrich to Kitzbühel, for 33km of steep terrain hitting 1800m of elevation.
