Breaking: Shock on the Ben...
I am sure Lochaber man Finlay Wild won’t mind me saying that the biggest win of his hill running career will have shocked one or two onlookers on Ben Nevis today. Beating 2010 Snowdon winner Robbie Simpson by 30 seconds, Wild also soundly beat fell legend and 3-time race winner Ian Holmes into 3rd place…
Finlay’s pedigree on Britain’s highest mountain is there in the history books, 5th in atrocious conditions in 2009 and 4th in 2007, he obviously knows the hill well. However, having been soundly defeated by almost 20 minutes by form-man Simpson just two weeks ago at the Lomonds of Fife Hill Race the change in Wild’s form from that race is phenomenal.
Cecilia Mora won the women’s race from Welsh international Sarah Ridgway, with Alwynne Shannon third.
Reports are a little sketchy at the moment so look out for some more in depth reporting and images early next week. However, full results are now online at the Ben Nevis site.
