Tom and Claire roast 'em at Glenshee 9
Those looking at the sharp-end of 2010 Trans Alpine Run should sit up and take note. Tom is back. Tom Owens that is, 2009 TA partner of Andy Symonds. After a tough end to 2009 and early 2010 which saw the Shettleston man sidelined with an achilles problem…
…he appears to rounding into some outstanding form!
Sunday’s Glenshee 9 was a day of records. Owens not only took a massive 13 minutes off his 2009 record time, but he also delivered a hefty defeat to newly-crowned Snowdon winner, Robbie Simpson. Tom ran away from Robbie in the closing hills to win by fully 7 mins by the end.
Claire Gordon also turned in a classy performance. Amongst a very strong field of elite Scottish hill running men, Claire finished 21st overall, to go under 4 hours for this tough race that take in 9 Munros, including Creag Leacach and Glas Maol. Her time of 3:56:31 also took a huge 17 minutes of her own record time of 4:13 from 2008.
