World Trials are this weekend...
Crib y Ddysgl from Snowdon summit
For those with World Mountain Running Championships aspirations, it’s the big one this weekend. Sunday sees the 2010 Trials races (uphill only) based in Llanberis and racing in and around Snowdon. The race also doubles as part of the McCain Mountain Running Challenge
Race organiser Arwel Lewis states:
Entries for the event will be on the day. From a Wales perspective Rob Samuel will be running the senior race as well as Ricky Challinor, Dewi Griffiths and Mike Kallenberg in the Junior Male race, and Gina Paletta is coming back from injury in the women’s race.
Racing will be high quality and will probably be contested by many of the athletes from the European Champs squad. It is also a round of the McCain Mountain Running Challenge Series with prize money on offer, it is also the England & Wales trial race for the Home International in Scotland and the race also incorporates the 2nd in the Welsh Athletics Mountain Running Championships! It should attract a bigger field of runners than the usual trial races…
As it is entries on the day there arent any entry lists to go by, but expect the likes of Orlando Edwards, Simon Bailey and possibly Tim Davies in the men’s race, along with Kate Goodhead and possibly Lauren Jeska in the women’s event, but at the time of writing we are merely guessing!
Kate Goodhead, winner in 2009
