"Liking the way things are going" - Roes
This is what Geoff Roes wrote on his blog last Tuesday. The Western States 100 has barely finished but already people are calling it one of the greatest races in the history of the this trail running classic…
Anton Krupicka and Kilian Jornet were locked together for 85 of the 100 miles in an epic battle. Then the rot set in for the little Catalan as Jornet’s race fell apart in the last few miles with what appears to have been dehydration in the very hot conditions.
Roes however held things together for a storming last 10 miles to overtake both Kilian and Anton to take a 4 minute win from Krupicka, in a time of 15 hours and 7 minutes which appears to be a new course record. Jornet completed the podium. Reports and a full round-up will to follow…
