It's a Barefoot battlegound...
Certainly when it comes to some footwear brands right now. I don’t think Merrell would mind us saying that inov-8 have the upper hand here, indeed ‘barefoot guru’ Chris McDougall is pretty clear and where he thinks the leading minds in this field are…
Still, Merrell have made a very bold statement of intent in this area by launching their Merrell Barefoot line for release in early 2011. Be interesting to see how these products (developed with Vibram) will do in those countries with more aggressive trails and off road areas. Time will tell and if nothing else it’s great to see footwear brands thinking less is more and that more and more cushioning is not the answer…
